FAQs
Can I set up ahead of time?
Contest participants have the option of arriving before the event start time at 4pm to set up their stations at the Austin Taiwanese Presbyterian Church meeting hall.
What is provided for the contest?
TAP-ATX will provide utensils and 4oz serving containers for each contestant to serve from. You will also each receive a 1-6ft tables and 2 chairs to set up as part of your station. If you require additional tables, please let us know if we can accommodate you or if you need to bring your own. Be prepared to bring extension cords if your warming/heating appliances need electricity.
How will winners be decided?
Attendees will be given a link to vote based on categories like Taste, Texture, Presentation, & Creativity.
Can I finish cooking at the venue?
You may reheat or keep food warm but your dish must be finished cooking when you bring it to the venue.
How creative can I get with my dish?
At the bare minimum, your dish needs a protein, a “red-braised” sauce base, and be served over rice. Any additional elements like braised egg, pickled vegetables, etc that may sometimes come with the dish are considered optional and extra.
